Each time I became a mother my favorite experience was this first moments and night in the hospital room just baby and me. Those memories hold a special place for me as I welcomed each of my five children. Which is why I love being invited into my clients hospital rooms to capture their first moments with their baby and preserve those precious memories.
Meet Sarah Elizabeth born at Waynesboro Hospital in Pa. She has the cutest little face and chin. I was sure to start with a little baby fix as I scooped her up for a little love first. She was wrapped up in the nostalgic footprint hospital blanket and her little shirt covered her hands to keep her from accidentally scratching her face.
I have to admit this picture makes me want another baby. Don't you just want to cradle this sweet little one and kiss her cheeks.
One of the first things people do once they are holding a new little baby is they unwrap the legs to take a look at those little piggy toes.
I then photographed Sarah with her mother still wearing their matching bracelets. This is beautiful seeing how small she is in her moms hands and the pure joy on moms face.
I brought a soft pink wrap and sweet little head band wrapped her all up and gave her to her daddy for some snuggles. The hospital room had GORGEOUS window light to work with.
Big sister was there and was next to hold the new baby. It was absolutely adorable to watch her investigate her little sister and play with her fingers.
This portrait of their girls quickly became a favorite of mom and dads. Their little profiles and that sweet look as big sister is loving her little baby.
I finished up our session with another portrait of just Sarah. Bringing a little detail to the shot with some lace, a wrap and head piece I laid her down for a not so traditional hospital portrait.
Sarah's mom had mentioned that when her first daughter was born she didn't like the pictures they had taken at that hospital and was thinking of forgoing it all together for her second daughter. However after she and I talked about what I offered and that it wouldn't look like traditional point and shoot hospital pictures she welcomed me to come. Once she and her husband saw their portraits I had taken that day in their little hospital room they fell in love and wanted them all! I am so pleased to be able to give them these moments for a life time.
